Craig Powers
Training Coordinator / Business Development
Craig came to H.E.L.P. Safety Services after graduating from the University of Guelph with honours, in Marketing Management. With an original focus towards marketing and business development, Craig fast became more involved in Health & Safety, starting out as a Jr. Consultant assisting on sites and developing first hand work experience in the field and progressing to the position of Sr. Consultant and Training Coordinator. As the Training Coordinator here at H.E.L.P. Safety Services, Craig is responsible for arranging, developing and supervising all of our clients’ H&S training initiatives and needs. In addition to his progression within the organization, Craig has a certificate through the University of Fredericton inEnvironmental and Occupational Health & Safety and as of 2019 was recognized by the BCRSP as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).

Robert Downie
Safety Consultant / Trainer
Since transitioning to OH&S after 34 years in the law enforcement field Robert Downie has become integral to the H.E.L.P. Safety team. Rob has effectively parlayed his legislative and investigative experience to the field of occupational safety becoming not only a respected auditor and site coordinator but has also become a capable and skilled instructor of various OH&S training curriculums.
Rob has long believed that workplace safety does not happen on its own and he has thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play a greater role in the demonstration and promotion of workplace health and safety.

Wayne Derbyshire
Safety Consultant
Wayne has been consulting with H.E.L.P. Safety Services since 2018, and has 30 years experience with Health and Safety and System Management. Wayne has experience and insight of the construction sector and brings this considerable knowledge to his consulting endeavours. Having additionally guided several organizations through the 5 year Safety Group programs, this diversified experience allows Wayne to provide our clients with value added safety solutions, for continual improvement and compliance in their corporate OH&S programs.

Monica Sauceda
Safety Consultant
Monica Sauceda is a dedicated health and safety consultant with multiple years of experience in workplace safety, compliance, and risk management. A dynamic young professional, Monica specializes in developing and implementing safety programs, conducting hazard assessments, and ensuring regulatory compliance across various industries. Stemming from a strong background in Chemical Engineering, Monica has transitioned her focus towards OHS management and compliance due to her personal passion for keeping people safe.

Cindy Sypher M. Eng., P. Eng.
Safety Engineer
Cindy Sypher is licensed to practice engineering in the provinces of Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, Newfoundland & Labrador, and Saskatchewan. She has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo.
Her consulting interests include temporary structures, mechanical and structural design, building code compliance, fire and life safety, emergency preparedness, rigging, general public safety initiatives, amusement rides, risk management, machine guarding, and playground design and inspection. She has consulted to major fairs, parks and event promoters.
She is currently the Chair of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority’s (TSSA) Amusement Devices Industry Advisory Council and is the Co-Chair of ASTM F24.80 Harmonization Task Group for Canadian Harmonization developing amusement ride standards for Canada. Cindy is a member of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) North American Safety Committee. She is the former vice chair of the CSA Z267 Amusement Rides Harmonization Technical Sub-Committee. She has developed and presented curriculum for the programs at the TSSA’s NAARSO Safety Seminar, AIMS, IAAPA and other industry associations. Cindy also has 18 years experience in the nuclear industry. She has participated in standards development on the CSA N289 series of standards for seismic design and qualification of CANDU nuclear power plants. She is a former member of the board of directors for the Organization of CANDU Industries.

Joana Lim
Safety Consultant
Joana Marie Lim holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science and a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management. She has gained experience supporting health and safety programs within municipal operations, with a focus on conducting audits, supporting incident investigations, and developing safety materials.
She is passionate about strengthening safety culture through collaboration and proactive engagement, and is committed to helping organizations create safer, more supportive workplaces through effective safety solutions. She is particularly drawn to occupational health and safety for its direct impact on helping workers return home safely, and for the opportunity to build strong working relationships that drive continuous improvement.

Manley Lavender
Safety Trainer / Consultant
Manley Lavender, for the past 25+ years, has focused on delivering high quality compliance training and business consulting services as an employee and independent Business/Compliance Consultant across Ontario. He has experience with nonprofit, private and government sector businesses. He works with businesses to ensure they are compliant within the provincial guidelines and federal regulations.
Manley has a wide range of experience with the following discipline: Competent working with Exec level of Management,Certified Lift Truck instructor, Certified facility and workplace safety auditor in Ontario, Certified adult facilitator, Certified accident investigation, workplace due diligence, workplace operations/facility management experience, mental health workplace proponent, past First -Aid/CPR/HCP instructor, and affiliated member of IHSA, WSPS, Board of Trades, Chamber of Commerce,
Manley is an absolute team player, who always strives to bring out the best qualities of people during his training sessions and any engagement.

Sare Kumagai
Safety Trainer
Sare Kumagai has been with HELP Safety Services since 2025 and has over ten years health and safety experience in the recycling, infrastructure, auto and chemical manufacturing sectors. Sare is an ISO 45001 Lead Auditor, enthusiastic trainer and the Restoration Team Leader. Sare specializes in program implementation and encourages a strong internal safety culture through accountability, team-building and trust.
