An LCBO in London has been fined $80,000 after a worker was critically injured on the job in June 2022.
The company was convicted in Aug. 2025 following a guilty plea. The court has also ordered the LCBO to pay an additional 25 per cent victim fine surcharge.
The injury resulted after an employee didn’t receive proper training on operating a powered pallet lift truck, according to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
An unqualified trainer was leading the training exercise, and when the victim operated the transporter for the first time, they lost control and crashed into a steel storage rack.
The LCBO was charged under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for not providing the worker with proper information, instruction and supervision to protect the worker’s health and safety.
