The 15-year-old found unconscious in a well, police say
Ontario Provincial Police say a 58-year-old man from North Middlesex is facing a charge of criminal negligence causing death after a 15-year-old teen died in a farming accident near Parkhill late last month.
Emergency crews were called to the farm on Parkhill Drive in North Middlesex around 4 p.m. on Sept. 20 and located the teen unconscious in a well on the property, police said.
The 15-year-old Arkona teen was transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
“My understanding is yes,” said OPP Cst. Jeff Hare when asked if the teen was an employee of the farm and had been working at the time.
“There were members of the North Middlesex Fire Department there as well, assisting with getting this individual from the well.”
Police did not provide a cause of death.
CBC News reached out to the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development to inquire if they were investigating the incident, but did not receive a response before publication.
